Chakras are various focal points used in a variety of ancient meditation practices, collectively denominated as Tantra, or the esoteric or inner traditions of Hinduism.
The concept of the chakra arose in the early traditions of Hinduism. The beliefs differ between the Indian religions, with many Buddhist texts consistently mentioning five chakras, while Hindu sources reference six or seven.
A chakra is an energy centre. In a perfectly healthy person the seven chakras work in unison to create life force energy, the mind, body and spirit benefit from balanced chakras.
The traditional chakra colours follow the spectrum of the rainbow, while the extended system may add colours that are associated with metals or other elements, among them are gold and platinum.
